Community Identity

What is Spring Hill’s identity from the perspective of those who live here? How can Spring Hill attract more residents, businesses, and consumers?

A community’s identity encompasses the core characteristics that make it unique to those who live, work, and visit. Some of those characteristics are physical - like parks or distinctive shopping areas; others are social – like community-wide events or a sense of welcome and belonging.

Conversations from Pop-up Events around town and Community Vision Survey responses reveal popular community events to be the Community Festivals such as the annual Fall Festival and Daffodil Days.

Like all communities, the identity of Spring Hill is unique. Spring Hill, shaped by its agricultural roots provides an affordable “small town” feel with a powerful sense of community identity and pride. Recent development opportunities have allowed the city to grow and prosper all while maintaining its small-town charm and affordability. Spring Hill is in Johnson County and Miami County, which can present challenges when preparing for future growth.

Understanding these differences is helping us develop a planning process that brings everyone together and will ensure a Comprehensive Plan that addresses the hopes and the needs of all Spring Hill residents. Through the Comprehensive planning process, we will thoughtfully engage the community in conversation about any existing perceptions and how they can be addressed.
