Future Land Use
At the forefront of planning is understanding the role of land use, zoning, and community design. Land use is the function for which land is used – residential, commercial, or industrial for example - while zoning is a tool to manage development and determine where land uses go. Mindful development and redevelopment acknowledge that people need to be connected to amenities and important retail centers.
The Comprehensive Plan will evaluate existing conditions of the community and recommend ways to strategically develop while maintaining a high quality of life.
Critical Question
- How will the community continue to support strategic development and redevelopment through land use decisions?
- Should the city implement smart growth strategies to ensure the city continues to develop in a sustainable manner?
